Running

I have caught the running bug once again, thank heavens!
Just in time for the holiday season says my waist line :)
My hip flexors are SO tight, my feet are sore, and my ankles are definitely feeling it. But I can already see a difference in my quads, calves, and butt. It is seriously motivating to see results this quickly. The whole time I am running I tell myself to go faster so I can be done quicker. I love how good I feel in my own clothes and whilst eating copious amount of food when I am in a good running routine.
I really run for dessert.
Hooray for speeding up my metabolism :)

This week I have logged 16 miles! That is just week one of my 12 week training schedule. The week is structured so that sundays are the high milage days to prepare for a half marathon since they are almost ALWAYS on Sundays.
My plan is to see how I feel about running long distance and if I would like to do another half. Honestly I dont feel the need to do one again, the first time was great, I finished.
End of story.
But who knows, maybe once the miles get easier and go by faster I will be more competitive and want to better my time... maybe.

In the nice time- I will enjoy the ride!

"To Dye For"

Bentley and I are officially signed up the 5K Color Run in SOCAL this coming April :)
We are SO stoked.
The name of the team we belong to was cleverly made up by my friends mom, "To Dye For"
Now if you are unfamiliar with the color run click HERE!
I have never ran this one before and I am super excited. It looks like a blast, and its only a 5K. Doesn't get much better than that!

I love running, i especially love running short distances, with girl friends.
The girls we are teaming up with I met my freshmen year of college in the most grueling sport I have ever participated in.
CREW.
 POWER 10 anyone?

time for a dip

CHAMPIONSHIP in Tennessee

light weight 4 plus our coxswain
don't worry they're not too heavy

I was on the novice Long Beach State Womens' crew team. I spent every morning from 5:30 - 7:30 rowing, running, dry land training, and urging (the machines you see at the gym but have no idea how to use, yup we were all over those bad boys.)
Sweat runs and dieting were no joke since there is a weight requirement for this sport and major pressure to achieve set goals. like wrestling I assume.
I once did a sweat run with 3 sweatshirts and pants in the hot, humid, wet heat in Tennessee and dropped 4.7 lbs in 2.5 miles.
***NEVER again***

Crew got me through the homesickness and loneliness of freshmen year, when it crept in.

  • I got in the best shape of my life.
  • I found my passion for running
  • I changed the way I ate, forever.
  • I went to championship in Tennessee with the 'light weight 4'
  • But best of all I made some life long friends :)

I can't wait to hang with these girlies again.
OF COURSE ITS FOR A RUNNING EVENT.
Thats just how we roll, and I wouldnt have it any other way :)

Workin' Out

Yesterday I went to a live african drum dance class for a little exercise.
 It was interesting.
I have NEVER felt so uncoordinated in my life!!! I use to take ballet, hip hop, and jazz; but african drum. MAN, was I lost. Definitely not for me in the long run,
but it was fun. I am always ready to try something new, thats one more thing to cross off the list.

Next up ZUMBA !

Today I opted out of a gym class and did my own thing. I am truly motivated deep down.
The hardest step is ALWAYS the first one out the door
However, I LOVE working out and feeling strong. There was a season of my life where I worked out twice a day, averaging 6 - 8 miles a day running, about 5 days a week (including swim workouts)!
There is NOTHING like swimmers high by the way. If you know how good a runners high feels, imagine that times ten, in a beautiful blue, refreshing pool with bubbles all around you, no noticeable sweat, and no noise.
Not even the beat of an ipod.
That is a beautiful feeling.

I also found a new class I am really looking forward to going to. I will already know a few girls from church :) Can't wait. The instructor is going to kick my butt, I hope :)
I hope you go outside tomorrow and get some fresh air!

Cease to be idle; cease to be unclean; cease to find fault one with another; cease to sleep longer than is needful; retire to thy bed early, that ye may not be weary; arise early, that your bodies and your minds may be invigorated.
